--------------------------------------------------------------
Each film is a therapeutic and interactive story, produced with 4K cameras, transforming the imagery into a soothing tool by creating a non-threatening environment & stimulating cognitive functions and the episodic memory. The films are projected to dementia patients and their caregivers as 30 minute "cessions" during the day, offering an innovative soothing stimulation through guided imagery, music and chronotherapy.
------------
Dementia is a decline in cognitive performance, some of the more common forms of dementia include Alzheimer’s disease.
Cognitive functions regroup several cerebral functions, memory being one of them. Cognitive stimulation is an essential component of the well being of this population. Television programs are NOT adapted to dementia patients and are not handicap accessible. Multimedia can be a powerful tool to help fighting sundowning* effects through guided imagery, music and chronotherapy.
------------
By stimulating the episodic memory and relaying a precise life episode of an individual, forever engraved on their long-term memory, the 3 minute films immediately enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Based on a clinical study, the films reduce anxiety levels and contribute to the healing process by creating an environment conducive to relaxation. Scene selection, order, music and chronotherapy disminishes « sundowning » effects, dementia’s anxiety.
